Gerlinde and Manfred are on board. Gerlinde Kaltenbrunner – the first woman in the world to climb all eight-thousanders without bottled oxygen – and her partner, the yoga teacher Manfred Jericha want to collect donations for the aid project “School up – far west”, which I started, in their lectures and seminars. I am very happy about this prominent support from Austria and hereby expressly invite other mountaineers to join in.
School for more than 350 children
Gerlinde had already worked on the first, successfully completed “School up!” project: Together with the German top high-altitude mountaineer Ralf Dujmovits, we had raised money after the devastating earthquake in Nepal in spring 2015 to finance the construction of a new school in the small mountain village of Thulosirubari, east of the capital Kathmandu.
As the title suggests, “School up – far west” takes us far to the west of Nepal, to one of the least developed regions of the Himalayan state: In the mountain village of Rama, which belongs to the municipality of Tanjakot in Humla District, Nepalhilfe Beilngries is organizing the construction of two new school buildings. More than 350 children from Rama and the surrounding hamlets will be taught there.
Second ceiling concreted
The whole village is helping with the construction work already underway for the first building. The second ceiling has been concreted in the meantime. As you can see, your money is working. Every euro you donate for “School up – far west” will be used for the construction of the school in Rama. Of course, I will continue to inform you about the progress of the project in my blog at irregular intervals. This is the bank account number:
