The first summit success of the commercial summer season in Pakistan has been achieved. According to the Nepalese expedition operator Seven Summit Treks, the five-member rope-fixing team reached the summit of the 8,125-meter-high Nanga Parbat today, followed by seven additional team members. They ascended via the normal route on the Diamir side.
Mingtemba Sherpa once again in the lead
The fix-rope team was led by one of Seven Summit Treks’ most experienced staff members, Mingtemba Sherpa. He had already led the rope-fixing team on Mount Everest this spring and later guided Norwegian client Kristin Harila to the so-called Triple Crown: to the top of the 7,861-meter-high Nuptse, the 8,516-meter-high Lhotse, and finally to the summit of Everest, the highest point on earth at 8,849 meters. Mingtemba has scalled all 14 eight-thousanders.
